By attending the UIFI Conference, I was able to recognize qualities that not only I have gained from my time as a sorority woman, but that I had within me that resemble a leader. I feel that this conference taught me not only how to better myself, but it also empowered me to unite with other sisters and brothers from the Greek community in the efforts of having a more integrated approach into working together and solving problems. I believe that when you start a new venture in your life, it is always extremely intimidating to meet new people and be a part of something greater than yourself. At times it could be scary, and you could easily to fall into the negative side of college, especially within your first semester. That is why I think it is so significant to motivate students get more involved on campus and use all the abundant resources that FIU has to offer. That’s what my sorority did for me. My biggest blessing and most memorable experience by far was becoming a sister within my sorority. I hold every organization I am a part of to the utmost importance. The experience of finding my home within the Greek community has blessed me with an amazing support system and has gifted me with happiness. “Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.”- Thomas Merton. I have learned how to manage my time, network, and mature as the successful woman I wish to become. I continuously support meaningful philanthropies by fundraising and bringing attention to the cause. Being a part of the Greek community encompasses the virtues and integrity of FIU that is to learn, innovate, and collaborate. As a result, I want to continue to exemplify the same dedication, pride, and excellence in all that I do for the rest of my years.
